DO GOOD RUN HARD BE GREEN
RFG5K was the vision of Timothy “T3” Tenne. After witnessing the opening of Fairfield’s first and only youth center, named in honor of councilman, Matt Garcia, T3 knew his experience in competitive running could be used to create an event that would bring the community together to do good, run hard, and be green! Now, just a little bit of information about the RFG5K tenants.
Do Good – This is simply helping the community, in our case, all proceeds benefit the kids of the youth center.
Run Hard – Okay, I know what you’re thinking…we’re not all elite runners and we get it. Our vision of this tenant is expanding awareness of fitness through running.
Be Green – This is our way of showing respect for our environment and surroundings. We have taken great strides in making sure our choices from start-to-finish minimize our negative footprint and maximize eco-friendly products and practices.
T3 knew he couldn’t do it alone and quickly met Todd “T2” Rewick and the two quickly became friends and partners. The City of Fairfield, along with councilman Chuck Timm, and many others throughout the community were indispensible in making the inaugural RFG5K happen.
In only 86 days RFG5K moved from the vision to the starting line. The community, sponsors, city, and volunteers rallied together to bring over 1K participants through the finish line, raising over $32K for the youth center!
“The Matt Garcia Youth Center is attributed as the single most factor in the first crime reduction within Fairfield, California in over 5 years…”
